If you’re considering applying window tint to your car or if you’re completely against it, this article will provide you with some additional insight into why people choose to tint their car windows and what the main benefits and reasons are. People have various reasons on why they install window tint but for the most part it’s due to aesthetics. Simply put everyone wants their car to look good and more unique and tinted windows certainly make sure it stands out.

Car window tint percentages

While it’s important for your car to look good there are other benefits to window tint. One of the most important reasons is the fact that tinting film can block sunlight, which has two very important benefits. Very dark tint can reduce the heat inside your car by up to 70% so if you live in a warm area I’m sure you know how hot it can get inside a car. Leaving it parked on direct sunlight why you’re shopping, working or whatever else will make sure it doesn’t become unbearable inside when you get back.

Blocking sunlight also has an added benefit of protecting you from harmful UV rays. As we all know continued exposure to sunlight can even lead to cancer and you can definitely help prevent it. Most window tint blocks a high percentage of ultraviolet rays but the more dark it is the better. Just be sure to familiarize yourself with various car tint laws as every state and country has different legislation. For example in California the front side windows must allow more than 88% of light through and any tint darkness can be used on back side windows and the rear window, while the windshield can only have tint applied to the top 4 inches. In Ohio the laws are the same except that front side windows must allow more than 50% of the light in.

But back to the topic at hand. Your car’s dashboard or car seats can fade when exposed to direct sunlight for a long period so having tinted windows can help protect it over time. Applied tint also has the added benefit of holding the glass fragments together in case you get into a car accident, which makes sure the shattered glass doesn’t do any harm to your skin or eyes.

Another reason to tint your windows is definitely privacy. Dark tint can prevent strangers from peeking inside your car in the event they are looking for something to steal. It’s actually a more common occurrence than you might think. Leaving your wallet or other valuables inside your car is risky and the less people see it the better.

Now that you know the main reasons and benefits for tinting your car windows I hope you’ll consider it. It’s not a terribly expensive process and you could even do it yourself if you’re feeling adventurous. But as with all things it may be best to leave it to professionals, so look for a tinting business in your area and find out what they can do for you.
